Installation and Testing

Setting Up

When setting up the Iqua VizorSun the user manual is utterly useless. Although it does inform you what each button does, it gives you no instructions as to how to setup the headset. Instead, it directs you to visit Iqua’s website for a full user guide. Most Bluetooth Headsets require you to pair it to your mobile phone before use; the manual included does not cover this at all.

However, apart from connecting the Iqua Vizor Sun to Bluetooth (instructions here), setting up the handsfree kit is very simple: turn the Vizor Sun on, pair it via Bluetooth to your mobile and you’re ready to go!

Charging

As the name ‘Sun’ suggests, the Vizor handsfree car kit can obviously be charged by solar energy – this is the products main selling point. However, in some circumstances sunlight may not be available. Iqua has therefore considered this and so the VizorSUN can be charged up via a cigarette lighter or any device which is capable of outputting power from a USB connection, for instance a Laptop or PC. When fully charged the device can last for 20 hours, although obviously longer when using solar energy too.

Mounting

The VizorSUN can be mounted to a windshield with the included clip as shown in the photo. I tested it in this position which proved very effective as the VizorSUN was nice and sturdy and easy to use.

Another way in which it can be mounted is by sticking it to the dashboard with the included adhesive plate. However, the dashboard in my SEAT Ibiza sadly wasn’t flat in any place at all.

Testing

I tested the Iqua over a few short journeys with a few phone calls on each. All the people I called confirmed that the microphone quality was very clear, with little background noise at all and with no echoes. The speaker too was nice and clear and I could easily hear the person I was calling. Also, the range in volumes is impressive; you can quite easily talk to someone with music still playing and still be able to hear them clearly.

One feature I really like about the Iqua VizorSUN which isn’t present on many handsfree car kits is its ability to automatically connect to the mobile phone you have paired with it. Therefore, as soon as the SunVizor becomes in range, it turns on and automatically pairs itself and then when it’s out of range, it turns off and is not paired. This means that you don’t have to turn on/off the device all the time.

Laptop technology has advanced greatly over the years with different releases of more powerful and compact systems constantly replacing the top notebooks of the year before. However, improving the performance of laptops usually has the knock on effect of producing more heat and so users will commonly seek advice in order to better cool their laptop. An often used approach to this problem is a Laptop Cooler.

However, most laptop coolers do more than simply draw hot air from your system. Many laptop coolers also have become a key feature in making the experience of using a portable machine at a desk more comfortable overall. Most coolers provide an elevated position for the actual laptop which usually features a sort of incline to the keyboard, thus allowing comfortable angles for typing during the longer sessions at the computer.

Many of you wouldn’t have heard of Zaward before and don’t feel disheartened if you’re one, they’re a fairly new company specializing in specifically computer cooling. One of the most innovative products in their catalogue is what’s called the ‘Golf Fan II’. Unlike most case fans, the Golf Fan 2 features a patent golf-ball-like texture on its fins which according to Zaward reduces noise levels by 15% at the same RPM and airflow. Now I’ve reviewed a lot of case fans in my day and many boast large claims like this, to find out whether Zaward’s marketing department are not just playing about, let’s put it to the test and find out whether it’s true to its word.
