Nexus's older fans were really quiet, and were designed around the low speed mentioned in the review. These new PWM versions take that design and expand on it, so they are Silent but with extra speed available if it is needed. The primary design is still low speed operation. Between 500-1000rpm these fane are effectively silent, you can't notice them if there is any ambient noise at all.

"Not Silent" is stupid. Nexus claims 15.5dB+ so there is no way it is silent.

"Quiet" and "very quiet" already mean "not completely silent". Seems straight-forward to me: the fans perform with low acoustic noise, but are still audible.

(( Also, yay for the automagical cleaning of the comments after a certain space of time. Overlong lists of comments suck :-D ))

Silent and Quiet are two different things. Most companies advertise products as silent, when normally, they are not. This is the point Andrew is trying to make.

right is something is very quiet then its surely good is it not? But if you are going to market a product as silent and then it isn't then that's bad very bad. And is there not a void between very quiet and not silent anyway? and it appears that you seem to think that silent and very quiet are the same thing which i can tell you categorically they are not.
