Stability

From the results it’s evident that the Nexus RX-8500 has a very stable 5V rail with it performing the best. However, the 12V and 3.3V rails are way out compared to the Commander and Signature’s.
Efficiency
| PF Standby | PF Idle | PF Load | Watts Standby | Watts Idle | Watts Load | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Signature 650W | 16 | 84 | 91 | 7 | 94 | 139 |
| Commander 850W | 24 | 77 | 85 | 9 | 98 | 142 |
| RX-8500 850W | 20 | 70 | 81 | 6 | 96 | 142 |
Even though the RX-8500 has an active PFC (power factor correction), its power factor wasn’t the best we’ve recorded. In terms of wattage, it performed 2nd best with the Signature 650W winning overall.
Noise
Throughout testing, the fan made a whiney sort of sound. This noise is the bearings inside the fan rubbing. In time – after one week for us – the bearings wear themselves in. The Power Supply is then very quiet – quieter than our 120mm case fans.
Cost
The Nexus RX-8500 sells for £122 online. For a modular 850W unit this isn’t bad at all.
