The NZXT Hush
Once free from all of its packaging it is possible to see that the Hush is a stunningly nice case aesthetically. Whether it is the highly reflective side panels or the strikingly shaped anodised aluminium front panel door there can be no denying that this case is a masterpiece. It is rather unlike the other cases from NZXT that I have come across which seem to have rather outlandish and forced designs which for me tends to ruin them.
As I have said the front of the case features a door which opens to reveal the drive bays. When the applicable power connectors are connected (sadly Molex only here) the whole of the front panel seems to light up thanks to a blue led fan and the strip of blue light along the front of the case door.
The power buttons which are also on the front panel can be accessed without having to open the front panel door. Unlike many other cases of this size and style, if there even is any front panel USB and audio it’s always in a rather intrusive place and doesn’t look so great, but fear not for on the Hush, the USB and audio jack are situated more on the right hand side of the front panel.
Moving inside the case it is possible to see that it features a top mounted PSU space, this is slightly unfortunate as it means there is more strain on the case. However top mounting it provides better cooling (hot air rises). All the panels are foam lined for noise absorption, there too seems to be foam in the more prominent areas where noise is noticeable. The foam isn’t too thick but is very soft and squidgy; a quick rip test however reveals that this foam wont rip too easily.
Another great thing about this case is that there are special attachment kits for 3.5" and 5.25" drives. Pretty similar to most other noise isolating kits these mounting "brackets" simply slot in and twist into place. Not only does this make life easier it means that installation of new drives is tool-less, which is always a good thing.
The fans that come pre-attached to the case are secured with metal screws but between the chassis and the screws are rubber grommets which help to dampen any noise from the fans.
