OCZ DDR3 PC3-16000 Platinum Triple Channel
*The heatsinks on the RAM we reviewed are platinum coloured (like they should be), but in the photos they look black, blame that on the photographer using flash.
After opening the package you will find three DDR3 sticks. Each of the memory modules has heatsinks on both sides to help dissipate heat. With the speeds these Triple Channel sticks can support – 1600 MHz – it’s a good thing that there are heatsinks as things can definitely get toasty and grilling a £120 set of RAM is probably your worst nightmare (at least it is if you have empty pockets like me).
The design of the heatsink is indeed quite unique, a reflective finish with dimples and a large Z³ logo in the centre. This certainly has the hardcore edge about it. The edge that would make your LAN buddies stare in fascination at the glistening Platinum sticks or even attempt to steal them!
On one side of each PC3-12800 OCZ stick is a sticker which lists the part number, speed, series, timings, voltage and capacity of each memory module. This is rather helpful as it saves researching the correct BIOS settings for your RAM.
