Conclusion
The OCZ Platinum DDR3-1600 kit does exactly what it says on the tin. It can easily run at its rated speed at CAS 7 timings with a low voltage of 1.66v. However, it also proved itself to overclock much further than we initially expected reaching an impressive DDR3-1884 overclock on healthy CAS 9 timings with the voltage set same. I’m sure you’ll all agree that this is a pretty extensive overclock considering we hardly adjusted much in the Bios.
This RAM package isn’t all about overclocking though. It looks fantastic and performed outstandingly in all our benchmarks – despite a couple of ‘odd’ results. For these reasons and the fact it comes at a bargain price of £120 for a 6GB set, I’m happy to award the OCZ Platinum PC3 12800 set a rarely awarded ‘edior’s choice’.
