Closer Inspection: OCZ Behemoth Laser Mouse

The first thing you’ll notice about the OCZ Behemoth is its girth. In terms of actual length, it’s about average for a computer mouse, but it’s wider by a noticeable amount. If you have quite large hands like me this is great news. However, people with slightly smaller hands may feel a bit stretched.

Aesthetically the rodent looks like any gaming mouse – it has a black rubbery texture and silver painted buttons. Of course, OCZ also splashed a white logo onto the exterior of the mouse which incorporates the company’s signature slanted ‘Z’.

As noted in the key features of this product, it’s been designed with ergonomics in mind. This is definitely clear when looking at the mouse. On both sides are large grooves which have been positioned and located so that the correct fingers can be rested comfortably. After playing around with the mouse in both left and right hand, I can conclude that this mouse will be fine for either user.

Turning the OCZ Behemoth upside down you can see five Teflon feet and the ‘profile button’. Notice how the cable is neatly routed to the front of the mouse from the bottom too – here you can route the cable so it leads from any side of the mouse or diagonally to suit your workspace format.

Like I mentioned in the package section of this review, there’s also five weights included with the mouse. These can be installed in a small section which can be accessed when opening a small flap on the bottom. The actual weights sit tightly in felt.

Nowadays gaming mice have moved on from the bog-standard plastic coated cabling and on to high quality fabric sleeved cabling. This is much stiffer and believe it or not, actually looks more attractive. This cable is about 150-160cm long – this should be lengthy enough for most.
