OCZ 700 Watt Fatal1ty PSU

The OCZ Fatal1ty measures a modest 16cm in length which is about average for an ATX power supply. Alike the package, the PSU itself comes in a red and dark grey colour scheme – following suit to many other Fatal1ty products. The paint job isn’t particularly shiny, but still gives a slight reflection.

When looking at the right side of the 700W OCZ, you can see a power specifications sticker which is obviously very Fatal1ty themed. Below the sticker, the casing of the power supply has been cut out, reading ‘FATAL1TY’ with the logo to the side. Behind the cut out is translucent red acrylic which glows when the unit is powered up.

Flipping the unit over reveals a 120mm fan on the bottom of the PSU, this has been encased with a black fan grill to stop wondering objects from drifting into the prying fins of the fan. Much to no ones surprise, this fan has LED’s installed to glow a radiant red when spinning.

OCZ have ditched an 80mm fan at the front of the Fatal1ty and instead have opted for a honeycomb mesh – this mesh has the least air resistance. Hot air will therefore freely be exhausted from this. Also visible is the standard kettle type socket and power switch, but also an LED indicating the power status of the unit (on/standby/off).

As this is not a modular power supply, the rear of the unit is completely bare – bar a small square perforated grill. Leading from the OCZ is a mass of cables which we’ll explore on the next page.
