QPAD CT – KODE5 Collectors Edition Gaming Pad

The QPAD CT KODE5 can be bought in just one size, large, whereas the standard CT pad can be bought in either medium or large. Large measures a massive 40.5×28.5cm and comes in 4mm thicknesses. Therefore, the QPAD is considerably larger than any mouse mat which you’re probably aware of. For gamers this is a big plus as it means more space for mouse strokes, however, for the ‘average’ user, this pad is likely to end taking a vast majority of desk space.

As you can clearly see, the aesthetics of this mouse pad are certainly unique. The appearance is what defines the ‘collector’s addition’ selling point for this pad. After doing a small amount of research, I found that ‘Kunkka’ (illustrator of this mat) is a popular DeviantArtist. You can preview the actual graphic in high-res for this pad here.

It’s clearly obvious that the appearance of this mouse mat will either be a love or hate relationship for you based on personal preference. Unfortunately to say, I prefer more ‘cleanly styled’ desk accessories and so the KODE5 CT isn’t my cup of tea.

Taking a closer look shows the graphics have been printed to a very high standard. The amount of colours and shades used in the design is certainly vast. To protect the design and improve mouse accuracy, a coating of QPADS unique ‘Hybratek’ has been applied to the top. This means that the pad on top feels like an ordinary plastic mat (smooth and hard); however, still having the feeling of a soft and comfortable fabric pad.

At the bottom-right of the QPAD CT is a logo which represents KODE5 and a link to kunkka’s websites. The logo is quite a dominant feature on the pad; whereas the text blends in quite nicely and so isn’t too much of a distraction.

Over on the left side, QPAD’s logo is evident. It’s usual for mouse mat manufacturers to promote their brand through logos on their pads.

The bottom of the CT KODE5 Collectors edition is apricot in colour. This is quite an unusual choice of colour from the standard black or white. To increase friction resulting in a less chance of slippage, the bottom has been patterned.
