The Kone[+] Driver is installed by inserting the included CD into your DVD Drive and literally taking a couple of minutes to click next and allowing the software to install. There are also a few included extras on the CD.
At first glance, all of the settings may a bit overwhelming for some but don’t worry, it’s not as bad as it looks. Each page is laid out well and all text is written in a clear and easy to read font.
The “Main Control” page allows you to change the sensitivy, vertical/horizontal scroll speed, DPI (controlled by pressing the DPI up/down buttons) and Double Click speeds. You can create any combination of settings by using the “Create Profile” option at the bottom of the page.
The “Button Assignment” page features two different sections. The left side is the standard button assignment options, and the right side is the EasyShift[+] assignment options. EasyShift is a very interesting and unique feature. It allows you program upto 24 different functions, the first 12 are your standard buttons and the other 12 are extra buttons for things such as volume, media controls, and changing mouse profiles.
In my opinion this is one of the top features, although not as important as some of the others, of the Kone. The Colour Control page. Here, you can modify the LEDs of the Kone to any of the 33 preset colours, of which you can use a maximum of 4 at any given time, therefore allowing you to create multi-coloured designs. You can also change the light effect, colour flow effect and the effect speed.
The “Advanced Control” page is where it gets a little more complication. You have the option to change the X and Y axis’ sensitivity, meaning that you could have the mouse moving slower whilst going up/down and moving faster whilst going left/right. Also on the advanced control page is the ability to change tracking and distance performance, pointer speed, sound feedback and polling rate. A driver reset button is also available to reset the Kone’s settings to factory default.
The last page you’ll be able to visit is the “Update/Support” page. Here, you can update the installed driver or receive online help and support.
