Rosewill RX81-MP-US External 3.5” SATA Enclosure

The enclosure certainly doesn’t win awards for being attractive – quite the opposite in fact. It comes in an all matt black finish with a perforated front grill for increased airflow. There are no aesthetic details at all and so it looks rather boring.

The stand comes pre-attached and can be removed easily by removing four minuscule screws on the bottom of the Rosewill. There are also more screws on the bottom of the enclosure which are for removing the drive tray.

Although the RX91-MP-US may look rather dull, its construction is impressive. The drive comes in two parts: the shell and the tray/chassis in which a hard drive is installed upon. The ‘shell’ is a one piece aluminium construction with folded edges; the ‘tray’ is constructed using steel and aluminium. Rubber dampeners are present to reduce noise vibrations from the hard disk.

The rear of the Rosewill RX81-MP-US offers connections for both USB 1.1/ USB 2.0 and the more recent eSATA. There’s also an on/off switch and the needed power socket.

After removing the tray from the enclosure’s shell you still cannot gain access to install a hard drive. An aluminium top-plate has to be removed which is secured with two screws on each side. Once this is removed you can see how a drive can be connected up. The external enclosure simply uses a shortened SATA cable and shorter SATA power adapter to connect up a hard drive.

An LED is routed to the front of the enclosure; photos of this LED in action are on the next page.

Coolink Lapchilla Laptop Cooler

Laptop technology has advanced greatly over the years with different releases of more powerful and compact systems constantly replacing the top notebooks of the year before. However, improving the performance of laptops usually has the knock on effect of producing more heat and so users will commonly seek advice in order to better cool their laptop. An often used approach to this problem is a Laptop Cooler.

However, most laptop coolers do more than simply draw hot air from your system. Many laptop coolers also have become a key feature in making the experience of using a portable machine at a desk more comfortable overall.
