Conclusion

The Rosewill RX81-MP-US has proved itself to offer great speeds and low CPU Utilization which surely any user would be happy with. Moreover, it’s very simple to install a hard drive into the enclosure and its build quality is solid.

There are a couple of points which let this product down though. Firstly, the aesthetics are a bit bland and probably won’t suit everyone. However, the appearance is a matter of personal tastes – some may love it; some may hate it. Finally, the paint on the enclosure feels a bit thin and as if it hasn’t been clear coated. This unfortunately means that the unit is easily scratched and scraped – resulting in the high pitch screeching we witnessed.

Bottom Line: For £30 the Rosewill RX81-MP-US hard drive enclosure is a reasonable purchase. Sure, there are cheaper ones with the same features, but you’ll struggle to find a thick aluminium enclosure for this price.
