The Spire TherMax Pro CPU Cooler
Much alike most current CPU Coolers, the Spire TherMax Pro follows the tried and tested tower-format. It boasts a total of 45 (according to Spire) Aluminium fins which are secured by three copper heat-pipes which each bend round and through each left and right side of the heat-sink.
Looking at the top fin in the rack of aluminium fins you can see that Spire have proudly stamped their logo into it. Also evident is the overall shape which is mirrored throughout all the fins. It’s fairly unique with notches cut for a 92mm fan to sit in. Unlike many CPU coolers which utilize copper heat-pipes, the TherMax Pro does not have the raw ends of the copper heatpipes protruding from the top. Instead, the top fin is secured to the others by four plastic pegs, therefore making the Spire TherMax Pro look much more professional.
The base of the Spire involves a solid aluminium block with the three copper heatpipes sitting flush inside the block. This is what the techies call ‘Direct-Touch heat-pipe technology’, which basically involves the heat being dissipated straight to the copper heatpipes rather than through another element first. On arrival, the base is covered with a plastic protector so no debris or fingerprints come in contact with the base when installing – which could hinder performance.
After removing the plastic protector we can grasp an idea on how shiny and flat the base is. In terms of shininess, I’ve definitely seen better as it barely gives a reflection. That said, it is however incredibly flat with no lumps or bumps at all.
The fan included with the Spire TherMax is a UV reactive 90mm spinner. It showcases blue fan blades and a black frame. According to Spire, it has a noise rating of just 25.0 dBA – quieter than a whisper!
