Installation
Please note: The installation noted in this review is for Intel’s Socket 1366/1156, the method for Intel’s Socket 775 and all AMD procedures do not require a backplate and so are much simpler.
As I will be installing the Spire TherMax Pro on an Intel i7 920, the installation involves me having to install a back-plate. Fortunately, the test rig in which we use is seated in a Coolermaster Storm Sniper, which utilizes a cut-out enabling back-plates to be installed without removing the motherboard. For users without this case feature, you will need to remove your motherboard, which can be a little nuisance.
Once the back-plate is seated you simply need to screw the mounting clip to the cooler until secure. Finally, you can finish off by latching the clips onto the mounting clip (similar to the stock AMD installation). Once seated the Spire TherMax Pro is very sturdy and tight.
