Use in Game
Regardless of any gripes over the appearance, after a quick spin on Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, all my doubts were put at ease. This mouse does everything you could expect from it, and the easy switching between profiles is a godsend – suddenly being able to switch between different DPI settings really comes in useful, especially with sniping or similar precision tasks, and the fact that you can customise this to suit your every whim just makes this mouse more versatile. The excellent feet meant the mouse physically moved easily, and it was as responsive as you could have asked for.
Clicking at high speeds is very easy, and despite being something which most people may disregard, this can be quite important when it comes to rapid shooting or similar! The scroll wheel is also responsive and this can be changed in the settings (see below) but the ratcheting is not obvious enough at times, so it makes scrolling through to change weapon or similar (in games where you have multiple weapons at once) a little fiddly.
Use in Operating System
Despite not being what the mouse is designed for, and the fact that it did perform so well in game, general usage of this mouse is where in my opinion it falls down. Many users are accustomed to the extra functionality that the extra buttons on mice offer, and without them navigation felt hindered. For example, I have two buttons on my Logitech VX Nano set to cycle between tabs in Chrome/Internet Explorer, and actually having to move to click on the next tab seemed like taking a step back about two years! Again, this is rather subjective, but even though it is far superior on the gaming front, I would have to keep switching mice to stop myself going insane!
