Conclusion

The SteelSeries Kinzu is, in its area, an excellent mouse. Any misgivings about it being optical can be ignored as it performs extremely well at various report rates, proving to be tactile and responsive.

There are areas where it is lacking, such as usability when not gaming, but, seeing as it is at the lower end of the price bracket, and performs so well where it counts, these issues can become insignificant.

Good:

  • Very light
  • Profile storage in mouse
  • High responsiveness
  • Variety of different settings, and crucially, easy change between these
  • Cheap
  • Ambidextrous

Bad:

  • Lack of customisable buttons can prove very frustrating
  • Takes a little too long to be recognised
  • Grip takes a little getting used to

I would absolutely recommend this to any gamer who’s on a budget and wants a quality mouse which they can rely upon. This is an excellent piece of kit, and if it was not so trying during regular usage I would use it as my full-time mouse without any major qualms at all. That said, this has real potential, and signifies that optical mice really aren’t dying out yet, and you don’t have to spend a fortune on a solid gaming mouse.

4star SteelSeries Kinzu Gaming Mouse
