Zaward Golf Fan II

As all the fans are near enough the same in design, bar colour and size, I will simply be analysing the 120mm Golf Fan 2, the ZG2-120B.

Included with the Zaward Golf Fan II itself are four M5 fan screws, four rubber fan pegs and four rubber washers. This is usually what you’d expect to be included with a fan, however, many companies rarely bundle rubber washers – which are actually really useful, particularly when you’re unable to use the anti-vibration pegs.

Apart from the dimpled fan blades, which is about as innovative as case fans get, you can see that the rear is pretty much standard. The central piece has a sticker proudly adorned with Zaward’s website URL, logo and product name.

The front of the Golf Fan differs from ordinary fans by having a slightly larger centre cone. Like most 120mm case fans, there are seven fan blades evident. However, as mentioned previously, the blades utilize a golf ball texture which apparently reduces wind turbulence (noise). The thickness of the Zaward is also worth mentioning, usually case fans have a frame thickness of around 4mm, the Golf Fan II has one of 5mm. Although this is only 1mm more, you’ll be surprised by how much more robust it makes it feel.

    It seems strange that you rate the Akasa Apache as the loudest in this review when you said it was the most quiet fan you have avere heard in the last review?
    That is probably why a dB meter would be good to have.
    TIP! If you have an iPhone you can download a dB-app.
    It might not be super accurate but if you change meassuring distance from 1m to lets say 20cm and recalculate I guess you would at least have some numbers besides only the “ear-meathod”.
    I mean if you had been to a rock concert when reviewing one fan and lying in bed before reviewing another your ear/brain will for sure react differently :)
