Zotac GTX 285 Graphics Card
As you can see the Zotac GTX285 is pretty massive ‐ much bigger than Sapphire’s Vapor-X 4850.
When installed on my motherboard it spanned the entire width of it. For users willing to install this fiery dragon in a relatively small or compact case this could be a bit of a problem due to size issues.
Like the front of the package, the fire breathing dragon can also be seen on the graphics card itself in sticker form. The actual cooler though is glossy black plastic – a magnet for fingerprints.
The rear of the GTX 285 AMP! Edition looks rather complicated. There are 12 screws in total which secure the cooler and its elements to the graphics card. Of course, you could fit an aftermarket cooler to the Zotac if you so wished as the four screw holes in the centre are of the standard positioning.
At the right side of the graphics card is the fan which sucks in air. This looks rather stealthy with its all-black appearance. As you can see, the sticker detailing the serial code and key code of the particular card is also located here.
In the photo below you can see where air is drawn into the graphics card.
To power the Zotac GTX 285 there are two 6-pin PCI-E connectors rather than the 6-Pin and 8-Pin connector which are required on the GTX 280. This means you’re less likely to need a cable adapter as this style of connection is much more common. The reason for less power to be needed is due to the 55nm GPU being used instead of the less efficient 65nm die.
The connector for the HDMI audio is also located on top.
The SLI connectors are located in their normal positioning with availability for both Dual and Triple SLI.
At the rear of the card there are two DVI connectors and a TV Out connector. Like many high-end graphics cards, the Zotac GTX 285 requires two PCI slots.
