Well it appears that Vodafone’s, O2′s and Three’s little tantrum, opposing Everything Everywhere’s plans to roll out 4G by 2013, has worked and consequently Ofcom has delayed the final verdict until May 8th.
Everything Everywhere, who own both Orange and T-mobile, have confirmed that they hope to rollout 4G, for the UK, before 2013, however it will only be for a handful of cities at first.
Ofcom has given TalkTalk until mid-November to explain why it has allegedly been making an increasing number of silent calls to customers, and has told them that they could face a £2m fine.
With the UK only just beginning to start work on 4G networks, that the US have already had for some time, delays have already sprung up thanks to Telecoms watchdog Ofcom who currently own the chunks of radio spectrum needed to make 4G possible.
Ofcom has made another HD slot available on digital terrestrial TV. The slot is open to bid by broadcasters, which means another channel will be arriving on Freeview HD. Freeview HD needs no subscription as it is a free service – providing you have a Freeview HD box.
