Product Overview Testing Verdict

The SoundPear Duo bluetooth speaker system from Olixar harnesses the power of two wireless bluetooth speakers to provide true stereo sound. The speaker system has been receiving great reviews from all who’ve tested them out, and with the speakers also boasting powerful 1.75-inch drivers with built-in subwoofers and portability we’re not surprised by the excellent reviews.

Many small bluetooth speakers, that can be paired together, are standard mono speakers that will play identical sounds through each speaker. This is where the SoundPear Duo differs, with the speakers providing proper left and right channel stereo sound. This means that, much like standard speakers you’d get for your sound system or PC, the SoundPear Duo will act in the same way whilst also being completely wireless and extremely lightweight.

The speakers sport a plain black design, with a mesh-like surround on half of the speaker. The rear features the cutout for the subwoofer; as well as a line-in port, micro-USB charging port and an on/off switch.

There aren’t many buttons on the speaker, the main central button on the top is for answering and ending calls, as well as for pausing and playing music. Volume up/down buttons are located on the front of the speaker. These also act as previous/next buttons for skipping tracks.

To stop the speakers from sliding around there are four rubber feet located on the base of the each speaker.

Overall my experience with the SoundPear Duo speaker system has been enjoyable. They’re small enough, even when paired together, to fit at the bottom of a bag; making them suitable for both use at home and to also take with you on holiday, or on a day out.

The speakers are durable enough to withstand knocks and bumps, and the build quality is good for the price.
I was disappointed with the level of distortion present at full volume, when listening to certain genres of music. However the loudness of the speakers at a mid-range level is still very impressive, thanks to the 1.75-inch driver and subwoofer combo housed in each speaker.

Retailing for around £34.99 from MobileFun, the SoundPear Duo offers great value. You’re able to also buy the speakers separately, however buying separately will cost you £19.99 for each speaker. Therefore you may as well save yourself some money and purchase the SoundPear Duo!

I’m awarding the SoundPear Duo Bluetooth Speaker system 8/10 for impressive audio quality and build quality. However, audio quality at higher volumes was sometimes quite distorted. Perhaps a more protective rubber coating, instead of plastic, would also be better for such a portable speaker that will almost definitely be venturing outside now and again.
