The Plextor drive is packaged inside a standard cardboard box detailing the relevant features and technical specifications.
Bundled with the hard drive unit, is a pouch for storing the drive plus the cabling offering eSATA and USB connections.
The brushed aluminium finish and simple black lettering, denoting the logo, gives the drive a sleek and stylish appearance. Picking the unit up, it feels well-built and secure, far removed from the plastic-feel of many external HDs.
A blue LED at the top illuminates when the drive is connected to a PC which can be done via eSATA or USB. Using USB, the drive can be considered hot pluggable whereas for eSATA, additional power is required in the form of a 5V DC supply.
Perhaps the only slight improvement could be the addition of some rubber feet to prevent scratching which is all too easy with the brushed aluminium finish.
